BOMCA 10 project launched a training course for dog-handling instructors
On July 1, 2024, BOMCA 10 project launched a training course for dog-handling instructors specializing in drug searches in Lithuania. A similar training course has started in Latvia focusing on searching explosives, ammunition, and weapons.
This course, which is developed in line with the European and FRONTEX Agency standards and will be delivered by representatives from Lithuania State Border Guard Service, gathers five dog instructors, one from each country of Central Asia – Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Dog handlers from Central Asian countries will undergo theoretical and practical training with the service dogs to be provided by BOMCA 10 project. Over twelve weeks the participants will develop teaching skills for the subsequent transfer of knowledge within their respective institutions. The training includes the provision of specialized K-9 dogs and appropriate training equipment, which will be handed over to the trainers at the end of the course.
A similar training course was organized both in Lithuania and Latvia in 2022.
